Hey Guys, a couple of days i found the ebony mail and put it on. Since i didn`t like the effect it does (character turning black as soon as he sneaks and during combat) i dropped it again, but the effect stayed. It is realy annoying since i can`t see very well while crouching with a bow. Ebony Mail as it appears in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Ebony Mail, also suffixed as Ebony Mail of Sneaking and Poison Radius Damage, is a Daedric Artifact granted by the Daedric Prince Boethiah upon completing a quest which varies across each title in the series.

I actually use the ebony mail for my warrior character. The ebony type is heavy armor, so i don't see why you're surprised bethesda would make it heavy armor. I like the pitch black effect, it makes my char look menacing.I had all ebony armor right before i got the ebony mail in that quest, so it matches pretty well. I like the look of standard ebony armor better because it has pauldrons, but i really like the proximity poison effect of the mail, so i'm using that until i beef up my enchanting perks to make my regular ebony armor better. @Casey25 said:I actually use the ebony mail for my warrior character. It doesn't add up is all. My stealth build uses the Ebony Mail. The ONLY negatuve thing is that the aura sometimes makes using your bow frustrating. The Ebony Mail is an artifact created by the Daedric Prince Boethiah. It is heavy armor and enchanted with a muffle effect as well as a unique area effect that inflicts 5 points of poison damage per second on nearby opponents. It can be improved with an ebony ingot. It is awarded to you by Boethiah for completing the quest Boethiah's Calling.

In appearance, the Ebony Mail is not too different from ordinary ebony armor, aside from the absence of shoulder pauldrons, a black chainmail texture replacing the cloth areas, and minor color changes. The most unique feature of the Ebony Mail is its "poison cloak" enchantment, which activates when the wearer is sneaking or when an enemy is nearby. While active, the armor gives off a black/green-colored smoke and all parts of the wearer (including weapons but not hair and facial hair) appear a shadowy black.
